Volunteer Opportunities
When volunteering or interning at Relief Nursery of Central Texas you play an essential role in providing services to our children and families. Various positions can meet your personal or professional goals, give you a meaningful experience for community service hours, and provide the opportunity to help and serve others. Volunteers are a vital part of the Relief Nursery team.
Direct Service with Children and Families
Direct Service Volunteers play an integral role in the delivery of services to our families, as they provide much needed support to the Relief Nursery program staff. Direct Service Volunteers must complete an application and background check and participate in orientation.
Classroom Assistants work directly with the children in our Therapeutic Early Childhood Classroom. Assistants help teachers facilitate learning and healing emotional support in the classroom and playground settings using therapeutic approaches. They participate in assisting teachers with classroom and child goals, circle time, playground time, snack procedures, and setting limits. Children range in age from 12 months to 5 years. Classroom Assistants must be able to work a weekly 3 hour shift and commit for 3 months or more, in order to maintain consistency for the children. Volunteers attend an orientation and training as scheduled and receive ongoing debriefing with teachers and the Program Director. Classroom volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
Parenting Classes
Volunteers help provide child care during parenting classes in order to help reduce barriers that prevent parents from being able to attend class.
Non-Direct Service Volunteers
Non-Direct Service Volunteers are an important part of the Relief Nursery support services and help make sure we grow and thrive.
