Parent Education

Parent education is at the core of all Relief Nursery services.  Parents learn how to increase positive behaviors in children and use appropriate strategies to decrease children's challenging behaviors.  Parent education includes:

  • In-home visits teaching parenting skills 
  • Parenting Classes
  • Support Groups
  • Community resource information
  • Informal parent meeting area
  • Library of parenting information (coming soon!)
  • Access to job hunting resources (coming soon!)
  • Family events

Parent education focuses on topics that help reduce child abuse such as:

  • Learning effective, non-violent discipline strategies
  • Having realistic expectations for children
  • Learning how to effectively manage stress and anger
  • Creating routines and structure
  • Setting appropriate limits
  • Increasing positive behaviors in children
